Send in the Clowns

Today Brent and I began work on designing the course for the 2011 GOALS Savage.

The sprint adventure race will be held April 16 at Marsh Creek State Park, about 45 minutes west of Philadelphia.

GOALS has used the park several times for their shorter events, and we wondered whether it would be possible for us to put together something new in such a small space.

We got off to a slow start and spent a fair bit of time wandering around, proposing and rejecting possible routes.  There may have been a bit of grumbling and griping as we rattled off all the potential logistical nightmares that could ensue.

But after several hours at the park, followed by an impromptu hour-plus meeting with the GOALS powers that be, I think we’ve actually put together a pretty nice little race.  At the very least, it’ll be different from any GOALS Marsh Creek sprint from years past.

For now, all I can tell you is this: There will be boats.  There will be bikes.  There will be trails.  And there may be clown noses.

    Very intrigued. Do all the guys run around with clown noses? That would be awesome. And right where the photographer is. 🙂

    I hope it includes a long canoe portage since I won’t be there.
    If you need any course testers, let us know (unless there’s an actual canoe portage) … could be a good training day!
