Have Dental Floss, Will Travel

Mapping the world, one waxy strand at a time…

The Short of It

After a snapped chain, an unexpected 3-hour bikewhack, a flipped canoe, and a flat tire, we did what GOALS does best.  We kept pushing, all the way to 8th place overall and a spot on the podium with a 5th place divisional finish.

25 hours into the race, a checkpoint on top of a fire tower

Lots more to come!

Seriously, way to push through! Does everyone have as many “adventures” during adventure races as you guys do?

Nature of the beast! One guy rode most of the race without brakes, using his teammates and his feet to stop him at the bottom of the big hills. Another woman broke her elbow and jammed her knee in a fall, and still finished the race. All in all, we got off easy 🙂

    Congrats! What’s a bikewhack?

It was essentially off-trail trekking with bikes in tow – through creeks, around cliffs, over logs and trees and boulders. Pretty ridiculous – and ultimately unnecessary. The map showed a trail, but it didn’t end up existing anymore. Fun stuff 🙂

Congrats, you are a great team! Beautiful picture with many smiles and a nice landscape (it looks like the background of “La Gioconda” by Da Vinci).
