Have Dental Floss, Will Travel

Mapping the world, one waxy strand at a time…

Island Adventures

In 2011, my dad turns 60 years old, my sister turns 25, and Brent and I both turn 30.  Cap that off with my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary, and we’ve got a lot of celebrating to do.

At 7:00 AM on Friday morning, we left Philadelphia en route to paradise. Thirteen hours and six time zones later, we landed at the Kona International Airport for two and a half weeks in Hawaii.

Following an afternoon of getting oriented and an early night, we woke up yesterday morning raring to go.  We had a lot to accomplish on our first full day on the Big Island —

There was snorkel gear to test…

…and moray eels to stalk.

There was yoga to practice…

…and lava fields to traverse.

There were monkeys to mimic…

…and turtles to chat with.

There were ancient games to play…

…and sacred huts to explore.

After a day of adventure-ing, we all fell into bed early.

Because today?  Today we’ve got a mountain climb.

We’re both on adventures right now! Except, while I’m bundling up against the chill and the rain, you are lounging in the island sun. Lucky you! I’m glad you are having a wonderful time. I can’t wait to see more pictures.
