Sugarloafing

Another weekend, another race.

This afternoon, Brent and I are headed to southwestern PA for the second of five races on the schedule between mid-April and the end of June.

We’ll be joining forces with Chris and Melissa as Team GOALS ARA for the 2011 Yough Extreme, a 10-hour adventure race in Ohiopyle State Park, that will undoubtedly have us going up and now, and up and down, and maybe up and down once again, the infamous Sugarloaf Mountain.

There’s been a bit of back-and-forth about whether Brent and/or I would actually be able to make it this weekend, in the midst of the end-of-semester rush, but yesterday morning we finalized our plans, and luckily our gracious teammates were still willing to race with us!

We have some team goals for the race, but my own personal goal is redemption from last year’s outing, where I had an asthma attack in the middle of the race and we had to cut the day short, just barely finishing officially.

Last year's start

If you happen to be online sometime between 8 am and 6 pm tomorrow, check out our progress on the American Adventure Sport facebook page here (I don’t think you need to be a fan to follow along).

I’ll be back Sunday with a full report!

It looks like a crowded race in cold weather. Enjoy the event and good luck.
