It’s the day before race day and all through the room…

Bags are a’scattered, chaos in full bloom.

The gear is all packed, the calories sorted…

There was talk of new trails shoes, but plans were aborted.

The bikes have been scrubbed and new roof rack installed…

Details check and re-checked, to-do lists all scrawled.

Anxiety’s up, race course rumors are spreading…

Visions of rain and the storms we’re all dreading.

But excitement’s high, too, for the start of the day…

Time to load up the car and get on our way.

Shenandoah awaits, with adventure galore…

Can’t ignore those Skyline Drive hills anymore.

We’ll grind our way up, fly back down with glee.
