Have Dental Floss, Will Travel

Mapping the world, one waxy strand at a time…

Wanderlust, Restrained

A few months ago, Brent and I decided to celebrate our recent foray into the world of DINK-dom (a term borrowed from my writerly friend, Jeff) with a holiday adventure.

We contemplated a Bavarian winter wonderland, or a jaunt across Western Europe to link up with friends in Paris for New Years Eve…

…until we crunched the numbers and realized that even DINK-dom has its limits.

We considered hiking across Patagonia, or traversing the Trans-Siberian Railway…

…until we checked out the timeline and discovered how many days we’d spend en route.

We thought about a flight to Vegas and a road trip across the Southwest, or a round-trip drive through the eastern half of the country…

…until we mapped it online and noted how many miles we’d spend in the car.

We thought we’d landed on a walk through history in Quebec City…

…until we saw that the average temperature was a dozen or more degrees below zero.

We had every intention of planning a two-week adventure of epic proportions…

…until the semester began and we both found ourselves craving downtime.

Looks like we’re headed for a long weekend out of town, and a lot of trips to the movies…

I’ll take it.

That sounds FABULOUS. And I am jealous of you DINK-dom. Just having the option to contemplate those trips is pretty great.

trips are only fun when you have time to enjoy them and not come home feeling stressed.enjoy a little down time…and you'll find the right time to explore!

i think that sounds perfect. as much as i always want to take a trip, when it comes down to it, being at home relaxing with a nice dinner and candles and movies sounds so much nicer!
