The Keystone Challenge

In New York, Yankees-Mets fans call it the Subway Series.

For Chicago’s Cubs and White Sox, it’s the Crosstown Classic.
The Anaheim Angels and Los Angeles Dodgers duke it out in the Freeway Series.
This weekend here in Pennsylvania, we’re embarking on a little intra-state adventure of our own, when several of my GOALS teammates and I take on the Keystone Challenge (okay, so I’m the only one calling it that so far, but fame has to start somewhere, right?).
We’ll begin Friday with a five hour drive to Ohiopyle, just south of Pittsburgh, in preparation for 12 hours of quad-crunching hills at Saturday’s American Adventure Sport Yough Extreme. Once we come down Sugarloaf Mountain for the final time, we’ll trek back east, grab a couple hours of sleep, and then pull out our compasses again for the 6-hour GOALS ARA Savage Sprint, just west of Philadelphia.
On Saturday, I’ll be reuniting with Brent and Chris following our successful outing in the South Carolina swamps. And Sunday brings the return of GOALS Girls Gone Wild. With Denise recently sidelined by injury, Sue and I are bringing in navigator extraordinaire Jon Neely to fill in. We’re hoping that with the blond wig and running skirt we have picked out for him, we’ll be able to maintain our place in the Female-3 Division.
Most of my teammates are wondering how our bodies will hold up on Day Two. Me? I just want to make sure I don’t pass out on Sunday from the smell of our unwashed jerseys.
Good thing we’re in the process of designing and ordering new team gear!
