Have Dental Floss, Will Travel

Mapping the world, one waxy strand at a time…

Greening the Blogosphere: One Day; One Issue; Thousands of Voices.

I have become a bit of an absent blogger as of late – a combination of life stress, general busy-ness, and acute writer’s block (along with the lack of motivation to do something about it) – but an old friend of mine brought this to my attention, and I thought I’d pass it along.

October 15, 2009 is International Blog Action Day.  Billed as the largest social change event on the web, Blog Action Day calls on bloggers around the world to create discussion of global importance.
As a blogger, you have the capacity to raise consciousness, to spark conversation, and to instigate action.  Whether you reach ten members of your immediate family or 2,000 readers across the nation, through your blog, you have the ability to affect change in the world.
Why not take advantage of it?
This year’s theme is Climate Change.
So I challenge all of you, on October 15, to set aside one blog post to riffing on the state of climate change.  Tell us about it within the context of your blog’s general theme.  If you have a running blog, write about the amazing routes available right outside your front door – no car needed.  If you regale us with stories of adventure racing, post about the environmental impact of traipsing around in the woods for hours on end – and how the sport seeks to offset its own carbon footprint.  Those of you with lifestyle blogs, tell us about new organic or local products, review a documentary, or write a story on a local artist who uses recycled materials in her work (Christina, that challenge is directed at you!).
Above all, just write.  And see where it leads you.
Spread the word – let’s see how much change this little corner of the blogosphere can make!

I'll do my best to remember this! I'm really a dirty, nature loving hippie at heart, so this is an easy one. Hope all of life is treating you well while it's keeping you so busy!
