Mapping the world, one waxy strand at a time…

Little Bo Peep

When you wake up at 5:30 AM in a dark hotel room with a mom and a sister still sound asleep, you have a lot of time to kill before the day starts.

Thank goodness for functioning internet access and an ever-present dissertation!

So, Peep Show… What to say about this burlesque version of Little Bo Peep, which followed the innocent Miss Peep on her journey to self-discovery (and her quest to lose her virginity) as she encountered everyone from Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Bigs, to Georgie Porgie and the Wicked Witch?

After running into Scary Spice earlier in the day, I wasn’t quite as surprised by the Who’s Who of Las Vegas and Soap Opera elite sitting around us in the audience. We were in the front row, and to my sister’s delight, two seats to our left was Anthony Geary, the Luke half of General Hospital’s Luke and Laura. Next to him was another GH star who I didn’t recognize; behind me was the producer of the Vegas production of West Side Story, and next to her were several of the show’s stars, plus a very familiar British chap named Nigel.

The show itself had its share of star power as well. In addition to MC Mel B, Bo Peep was played by none other than Kelly Monaco of Dancing with the Stars fame. Hailing from Philadelphia, the actress got her start as a playboy cover girl, and even competed in an expedition-length adventure race as part of a playmate team.

Thank goodness for sisters with subscriptions to Soap Opera Digest.

Honestly, there’s not a whole lot to say about the production.

The pop music score made for a fun sing-a-long. The women in the cast were all exceedingly talented and the men were generally less than impressive. The erotic set – from the bed splattered with hot pink paint, to the steaming bathtub, to the leather swing that swept over the audience, to the giant glass tank filled with milk – was quite the spectacle.

And then there were the bodies…

I’m quite accustom to seeing perfect semi-naked bodies on television and in movie theaters, but it was different seeing them five feet in front of me. I was struck by how different ‘perfect’ bodies could be. Some of the women were alarmingly thin, others had soft curves, and many had mind-boggling calves and ridiculous abs. The one thing they all had in common?

Breasts.

Perfectly rounded globes in varying sizes that all seemed to stay remarkably still, no matter what kind of acrobatic contortions the women found themselves in. It was like they were wearing invisible wonder bras atop their multi-colored glittering pasties.

“How in the world is that possible?” I wondered aloud as we walked out.

“Silicone,” my mom said simply.

I’m not sure that I believe that the entire cast of Peep Show had invested in plastic surgery, but the effect was impressive. And a little bit intimidating!

Scary Spice warned the audience that if she found pictures and video of the show on the internet, she would hunt us down and kill us.

So sadly, the images of Peep Show will have to live on in my memories…

That sounds like quite the show! If you got to sit near/be near Nigel Barker I am SUPER jealous because he is such a hottie. I have never been to Vegas but I can only imagine that most of the shows ARE filled with silicone!
