Mapping the world, one waxy strand at a time…

When in Vegas…

This morning, before my mom and I embarked on a mini-road trip to Red Rock Canyon, I headed down to the casino to place a bet.

That’s right, it was my foray into the world of gambling, and where better to begin than Planet Hollywood on the Las Vegas strip?

I decided yesterday that I wanted to wager on the Sixers-Magic game. Initially, I was leaning toward putting my money on Orlando. They were the favorites, after all. Plus, I reasoned, that way I could be happy regardless of the outcome of the game; either I’d win the bet or the Sixers would be up 3-1 in the series. Ultimately, though, I decided that it would be more fun to bet against the odds, so I put $10 on Philly (the minimum bid). And really, how could I bet against my home team?

While I was at it, I put another $10 on the Celtics, in Brent’s honor. That way, I figured if one team won, I’d break even, and if both did, I’d be up $20.

Unfortunately for Brent, the Celtics fell to the Bulls in a double overtime nail-biter. However, it seems that Lady Luck is with me here in Vegas. It turns out that Boston had a three-point handicap going in. So, I would win the bet if the Celtics either won the game or lost by three or fewer points.

Final Score 121-118.

Worst that can happen is I break even.

Go Sixers!!

Have fun. I’m so scared to gamble. I know my personality and I’d never quit until I won. Soon I’d be betting Zach’s college fund.
